HOW TO SET / BREAK A RECORD? – THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Apply to Set / Break a Record and get Record Specific Guidelines for your Attempt, it may be a new record title or breaking of existing record title. Fill the required details as requested in the Application form to Set / Break a Record and accept the Record Application Agreement and submit the request. Once the application form is submitted you will get a confirmation email with the Record Specific Guidelines, Evidence Guide, FAQ’s Section and Prescribed Formats within 4 weeks from the date of application for the next steps to attempt the record. However, if you need Record Specific Guidelines for your attempt prior, you can opt for Record Adjudication Services and we will get back to you within 2 working days.

 

Generally, records are approved Free, without any cost at Unique World Records Limited, the only time we might expect payment when you need assistance from our consultants for information and guidelines regarding your attempt along with Adjudication Services. It is necessary to get record specific guidelines to perform your event in an efficient and result-oriented manner. However, if you are not obtaining these guidelines before your attempt, it may result in failure or disqualification of your attempt based on technical discrepancies.

HOW TO SUBMIT RECORD?

Submit the Evidence for Review

Successfully attempted the record? If yes, please submit all evidence required. After evidence review, Unique World Records may grant or deny record status as per the final verification.

 

Click on Submit Record tile on the homepage 

Here first you need to choose the service option (1.) Free Evidence Review, (2.) Express Evidence Review and Fill the complete details in all required columns, attach all the required documents as per the record specific guidelines provided and submit evidence for review.

 

Once the application is submitted you will get a confirmation email to acknowledge receipt of this and your application will be activated on our system. If your record verification got successful after verifying all the documents about the records, our Record Management Team will send the Record Approval e-mail with the subject “Official Unique World Records – Record”. Once Record status is granted to the applicant, the record details will be published on our International Records Database website and the upcoming annual edition of the book. The applicant will receive an email with the link to order Certificate and other paid accessories if required.

 

If, however, your verification got unsuccessful, we’ll get back to you with an explanation of why it was not approved. A grace period of 15 days to resubmit the default documents will be given. It is not a guarantee that your application will be approved by us as a potential record category as the decision is based on your supporting evidence and /or relevance of your claim. If your record verification got un-successful after verifying all the documents about the records, we will share the valid reason for record rejection.

HOW DO I INVITE A JUDGE TO ATTEND MY RECORD ATTEMPT?

You can request an Official Unique World Records Representative to attend your event for on the site verification and certification. All requests are considered on an individual basis and incur costs such as travelling expenses including airfares, Taxi Fare, accommodation in a good hotel and food etc. Send an application as early as possible before your attempt. It will include some cost according to the location, city, state and country. The Charge of this Service for single-day event is INR 45,000/- it may vary depending on the duration and location of the attempt. Please submit the “Invite a Judge” application to get right service charges details applicable for your region.

 

Note: Given Fees for Adjudication is subject to change as per the type of event, number of days and place, please fill all required details about your event to get the exact details of final fees to be paid with a separate “Invite a Judge” application.

 

For live events, our representative will provide on-site support through the entire event according to the official guidelines. As soon as the event is finished, you have to collect and handover the required evidence in Pen drive / hard drive to the Adjudicators, once they got satisfied with the outcome of the attempt and received the documents including scanned Forms in the prescribed format, videos, Photos, Log Books and other statements if required, they will announce the Official Status on the Spot and you will be honoured with Official Unique World Records Certificate at the event. If however, your record verification got failed, they will share the valid reason, why it was not approved.

WHAT ARE THE COMMON GUIDELINES FOR EVIDENCE?

Collecting and submitting proper evidence is your obligation. You are advised to carefully read and understand the particular evidence requirements. Along with Record specific guidelines, you get all forms in prescribed formats which you need to download and duly fill them as instructed.  Wisely and logically consider the type of materials you intend to submit. Instantaneous collecting of evidence is very important as negligence may result in disqualification.

WHAT TYPES OF RECORDS CAN BE ATTEMPTED?

Usually, we get applications for records which are of the following nature such as Measurable (biggest / fastest / most / extraordinary etc.), Verifiable, one Variable, Universal, Best in the World, reproducible, breakable and based on skill. Freak, strange and unusual anomalies are not considered world records. Stunts involving luck or uncontrolled danger should not be submitted. Minor applicants are not supposed to attempt or undertake records which are considered to be unsuitable and unsafe, all applicants are informed to avoid any illegal activity for breaking or setting a record. No animals should be harmed in the pursuit of the record attempt. If your proposed record title is similar to the one we already have in the UWR database, we encourage you to break the existing record instead of approving a similar title. Unique World Records only recognises WORLD records. UWR do not verify national / country-specific records.

HOW DO I KNOW ABOUT THE EXISTING RECORD I WANT TO BREAK?

Current world records are enlisted with details on our website, www.uniqueworldrecords.com, where you can search your desired keywords, describing the title, you will find the existing record details.

IF I AM NOT SUCCESSFUL THIS TIME, CAN I RE-ATTEMPT THE RECORD?

Yes, of course, you must APPLY through a fresh application for your reattempt, as your previous application was rejected for being unsuccessful. UWR welcome and encourage you to reattempt the record. Many applications regularly challenging the records are received by us.

DO THE RECORD TITLES HAVE ANY RULES & GUIDELINES?

Yes, of course, the set of rules and guidelines plays a vital role in the process of achieving a world record. There are two types of guidelines viz. General Guidelines and Record Specific Guidelines. A complete list of rules is also sent to every applicant, but the rules and guidelines are non-exhaustive and UWR do not offer any guarantee or warranty of making your attempt risk free. UWR advise you to get expert help and proper safety equipment before attempting a record involving risk for you or anyone else. Rules and Guidelines are sent to every applicant at an appropriate time.

WHAT IS EXISTING / NEW TITLE OPTION ON THE APPLICATION FORM?

To Set/Break or Submit a record, at the time of application, applicants need to choose the title option namely Existing Title and New Title Option. If you are applying for a title that is already available on our database it will be considered as Existing title and if the title is not available on our website it will be considered as New Title.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO SEND?

Very large, perishable and valuable may be involved in the record attempt, hence the actual items are not required to be sent to us. However, we may specifically be interested in something particular if required to be inspected for review.

CAN I INCLUDE MEDIA COVERAGE AS A PART OF MY EVIDENCE?

Media coverage is not mandatory evidence but it can be considered as supporting evidence. You may share media coverage including print and electronic media.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY EVIDENCE HAS BEEN SUBMITTED?

Once your evidence is successfully submitted for review, you will be notified by an email.

WHAT IS THE EXPIRY DATE OF AN APPLICATION FOR EVIDENCE SUBMISSION?

Once your application got accepted to Set / Break a World Record, you will get a Unique ID for your application which will expire after 12 weeks so you need to attempt the record within weeks from the date of your application. Once the event is completed you need to submit evidence for review within 10 days from the date of attempt. Unique World Records will not consider any claim in this regard after the expiry of the stipulated period.

HOW MUCH TIME IT MAY TAKE TO REVIEW THE EVIDENCE?

Depending upon the type of your service the entire process may take from 4 days to 12 weeks upon receipt of your evidence documents, you will receive an email confirming its arrival at our office. The review process may involve consultation with external consultants. Kindly wait we understand awaiting the outcome is a tense time we appreciate your patience and promise to get back to you as soon as possible.

WHAT IS RECOGNITION?

Any attempt that is successfully accepted as having broken and/or set a record will be added to our world-famous and internationally recognized database collection of records. Inclusion in the database does not mean that the achievement shall be featured in any Unique World Records publication. The record details will be freely given to interested third parties, without prejudice, such as the press, media and the general public.

WHAT IS THE COST TO SET A UNIQUE WORLD RECORD?

We hardly charge anything. The only time Unique World Records might expect payment is if you need to use our premium service options – and if members of our staff have, by arrangement, attended your event on the invitation. Once Record status is granted to the applicant, the record details will be published on our International Records Database website and may feature in the upcoming annual edition of the book. The applicant will receive an email with the link to order Certificate and other paid accessories if required. We do charge for any additional copies if they’re requested.

WILL I GET FREE CERTIFICATE AFTER MY RECORD IS OFFICIALLY APPROVED?

Yes, of course, Once Record status is granted to the applicant, the record details will be published on our International Records Database website and the upcoming annual edition of the book for free. You will also get Record Approval e-mail with the subject “Official Unique World Records – Record” with Free e-Certificate and a link in a confirmation email to order Certificate with Seal and other paid accessories.

MY RECORD WAS APPROVED BY UNIQUE WORLD RECORDS, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY CERTIFICATE. HOW CAN I GET IT?

Once Record status is granted, the applicant receives a link in the confirmation email to order Certificate and other paid accessories. You can order your certificate using the same link provided in the confirmation email. If you already ordered the certificate and still not received the same then please Contact Support.

 

Note: Generally, certificate orders can be delivered for free via ordinary Indian Postal Service and usually delivery takes at least 4 weeks from receipt of your order. If you wish early delivery, please choose the paid shipping method. An email will be sent to you once your order is dispatched.

I RECEIVED MISPRINTED CERTIFICATE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

UWR practice computerised system and ensure the correctness of the information furnished by you as an applicant, we use modern printing technologies to print the certificates with the utmost care, but as you know still there is a room for mistakes, we apologize for any error in the certificate and promise you to replace it unconditionally (by surrendering the misprint certificate). CAN I PERSONALISE THE CERTIFICATE MATTER?

UWR adhere to a prescribed format, hence we cannot allow any amendments or personalisation of the text in the certificate unless a clear syntax error or any other error such as a misprint or misspelling found, only the information provided by you as an applicant is used to fill the blanks of a given certificate.

HOW TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATES OR RECORD HOLDER ACCESSORIES?

Unframed Certificates and record holder accessories can be ordered through the website. Refer to the store for details of the charges applicable to each product.

I’M A RECORD PARTICIPANT. HOW DO I PURCHASE A CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION?

Participants are part and parcel of the given record, hence they cannot be denied certification. Participants can directly order Participant Certificates through the website by providing the details of the record. The Charge of this Service is Rs. 3000 per participant certificate, you may order additional paid accessories during checkout.

I HAVE ORDERED RECORD HOLDER ACCESSORIES BUT THESE ARE NOT ARRIVED YET. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

UWR practices the methods which allow maximum exposure of the record holders on the website, we update the database weekly and hence you are advised to check regularly so that you can notice your record appears on the official website. There is every possibility of your record being published on our website as it all depends on the number of records we maintain on our database. We will not be able to guarantee that any record will appear on our website. However, exciting records that are supported by good quality photographs have a better than average chance of appearing.

WHY MY RECORD IS NOT IN THE BOOK?

There is every possibility of your record being published in our book but it all depends on the number of records we maintain on our database and the amount of space in our book. HOW DO I GET MY RECORD PUBLISHED IN THE UNIQUE WORLD RECORDS BOOK?
