Fastest Sandwich Making in One Hour

Dr S. Ramesh Babu (born on 12th February 1957) from Karnataka, India, made 408 triangular sandwiches in one hour @ 6.8 sandwiches per minute, using 21 loaf bread (9.5cm x8.5cm size), 600g butter, 700g ‘ompudi’, 9 Cucumbers and 40 Tomatoes, on 14th September 2013, at Vidyanjali Academy for Learning, Bangalore (Karnataka), India. The 8 step sandwich-making process consisted of manually slicing the cucumbers and tomatoes using a saw-toothed knife, buttering, ‘ompudi’ spreading, diagonally placing the cucumber and tomato slices on the buttered bread, placing and pressing the top bread slice and diagonally cutting using a stainless steel knife. Each step of sandwich making was independently graded by the 3 adjudicators and their overall average rating was 86.1 %
