Flying A Kite with the Longest Thread

Dr S. Ramesh Babu (born on 12th February 1957) from Karnataka, India flew a self-made 15-inch x 15-inch Paper Kite with the Longest Thread, which measured a staggering 14.186 KM, at Sanaswadi, Pune, on 26th February 1995. Vardhaman Company’s Hammer brand Number 10 Thread in standard mill bundles of 4 KM length was used to release 14,186 meters of the thread weighing 1.56 Kg, in a time duration of 2 Hr. 10 Min. The kite was also proved through rigorous scientific calculations to have flown at a minimum altitude of 6 KM above the ground level.
