Collection of Holy Icons

Karishma Alvares (born on 7 Feb. 1993) from Goa, India has been collecting religious icons since 2004. She first came across her family’s 100-year-old icons of St. Anne, which created her interest in icons. She then continued adding to the collection, collecting pieces on her travels across the globe. In her collection the interesting ones are that of the holy family surrounded by the mysteries, St. Benedict, and St. Paul. The current religious icon collection stands at 548 icons. Some of these icons depict primarily various saints, some are more intricate in nature. The icon makes the onlooker a part of it since it is made up of flat colours and mostly has a gold background giving it a spiritual feeling.
