Collection of Salt & Pepper Shakers

Maureen Alvares (born on 26th September, 1966) from Goa, India has been collecting salt & pepper shakers on her travels in India & abroad. Her present collection is at 188 pairs. She started the collection in 2004, when her grandmother gifted 4 antique/Silver salt & pepper shakers. These are made of a variety materials like ceramics to earthenware to natural shells, metals to mechanical robots. Their size varies from 4 cm. to 14 cm. They are decorative, their shapes are of fruits, snowmen, birds, monuments of different countries, animals like hippopotamus, cows, pigs, goats, etc. people of different trades and some are of unusual shapes in brightly colours.
